Welcome to Winnington Park Recreation Club
Northwich's Premier Entertainment and Sports Complex
Established 1890

Statement on the future of WPRC:

As directors of WPRC, we are volunteers and between us for the past 36 years have guided the Club through very challenging timesIn spite of our best efforts and the work of many associated with the Club it has become clear that the existing operations are unsustainable.  In light of this there has been a very real risk of the Club falling into a formal insolvency process.  Over recent weeks the directors of WPRC have undertaken an exhaustive search for financial support.  We have explored every option to achieve the best outcome for the Club and the community in circumstances.  We have engaged with multiple stakeholders both public and private sector.

We announce today that the search has been successful and new funding has been secured which will avoid insolvency and deliver much needed investment to the Club.

Zak McCombie, local businessman and a son of the town of Northwich will step up to the board of WPRC.

Zak has made commitments to the directors of WPRC privately and now does so publicly.  He shares the directors' desire to preserve and enhance the history of the Club.  He has committed personal funding to the Club, and will refurbish and develop the existing buildings.  He has also committed to ensure the continuation of community sports and recreation at that site and the preservation of the sports fields.

Zak recognises that he doesn't have all of the answers to the challenges faced by the Club.  He welcomes contributions from all stakeholders and will provide a suitable forum for  ideas and suggestions to be shared in future.

Change is inevitable, but any change at WPRC is focussed on delivering a vibrant and sustainable site that continues to serve the community through sports and recreation as it has for the last 130 years.

As part of those changes, the existing directors Louise Logue and Nick Hughes will resign from the board with immediate effect.  Margaret Dutton will remain on the board for a transitionary period to support incoming director Zak McCombie.

The board recognise that the past few months have been unsettling for all who care about WPRC.  We would like to place on record our thanks to all who have worked to deliver this outcome for the Club and look forward to seeing the Club thrive and remain at the centre of the community.”

'Singer-songwriter Roger Stevens' new album, The Position of Jupiter, delivers an eclectic mix of thoughtful lyrics, good melodies and more than a dash of Roger's quirky humour, in an example of contemporary folk at its best. This gig is part of the first leg of The Position of Jupiter Interplanetary Tour.
At its heart is a desire to tackle the weird stuff that doesn’t get into the charts anymore… a world where eccentrics come out to play' - Boff Whalley R2 Magazine

'A brilliant performer… whether comic or serious, always thoroughly entertaining.' - Robb Johnson

'Cheshire-based duo, John and Ailsa Booth, offer an eclectic range of music, from classic pop, to Music Hall, traditional and John's own original compositions. With Ailsa's rich vocals and John's accomplished guitar style and harmonies, they are a winning combination who delight audiences everywhere.' - Angela Topping

What is MND?

MND is a rapidly progressive and fatal disease, which can affect any adult at any time and attacks the motor neurones that send messages from the brain to the muscles, leaving people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves.

The cause of the disease is unknown and there is no known cure. Around 5,000 people in the UK have MND at any one time, with half of people with the disease dying within 14 months of diagnosis. It kills five people every day in the UK.

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is the only national organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to the support of people with MND and those who care for them. The Association funds research to understand what causes MND, how to diagnose it and, most importantly, how to effectively treat it so that it no longer devastates lives.
